DRAG > DROP > RUN – SIM4ME Portal makes it simple to utilize your simulation software.
Overview of SIM4ME Portal
The SIM4ME Portal is an integration application that facilitates the powerful combination of SimSci-Esscor’s various process simulation software with Microsoft® Excel. SIM4ME Portal creates an Excel spreadsheet that is linked to the chosen simulator, allowing the bidirectional transfer of applicable variables. Broaden the use of simulation to reach a new user base which historically has not had access to simulations, such as novice process operators, maintenance staff, engineers, and management. By freeing up an expert user’s time and allowing a new generation of user to manipulate process simulation models, a company can quickly maximize their return on investment.
Common Integration Benefits
- Maximize ROI on process models by extending simulation to new users without requiring the understanding of simulation technology.
- Attain in-depth process understanding evaluating different process configurations.
- Accurately understand current performance and predict future performance.
- Quickly and reliably create process improvement alternatives.
- Monitor equipment health and prioritize maintenance.
- Identify optimum conditions for operations.
- Evaluate environmental impact.
SIM4ME Portal for PRO/II
The initial rollout of the SIM4ME Portal will begin in May 2007 with the release of PRO/II 8.1. Combining SIM4ME Portal with PRO/II yields some powerful applications including:
- Create Operator Interfaces: Operator interfaces will allow novice users to interact with PRO/II using Excel under controlled circumstances. The novice user will have the ability to change allowed variables in order to run the plant or process at different conditions.
- Analyze Data Using Custom Formulas: Once the PRO/II data is available in Excel, the possibilities for manipulating it and processing it are virtually limitless. For example, formulas in Excel can be used to size a vessel based on liquid and vapor volume data brought in from PRO/II.
- Populate Datasheets: Since the data from PRO/II can be arranged and formatted as desired, the Portal can be used to populate datasheets that will be updated as changes to the simulation are made. For example, a TEMA datasheet can be filled out using the Portal so that any changes to the operating conditions result in an updated TEMA datasheet for that exchanger.
- Leverage existing Excel-based tools: Since the SIM4ME Portal is base on Microsoft Excel; the Portal can be linked to existing Excel spreadsheet tools effectively driving the existing spreadsheet tools with simulation data. For example, a SIM4ME Portal workbook that is linked to a PRO/II simulation could be used to drive an existing vessel design or a cost estimation spreadsheet in Excel. This functionality increases productivity and efficiency by minimizing the need to recreate your existing Excel spreadsheet tools and automating data transfer.
- Link multiple applications: Any application that interfaces with Excel can easily transmit data to or receive data from the simulation software via the SIM4ME portal. For example, the data from an upstream application can be transferred to a downstream application via the Portal. As more SIMSCI-ESSCOR simulation software products communicate with the Portal, communication between SIMSCI-ESSCOR simulation software will be easily realized via the SIM4ME Portal.
