IPS field engineers are trained in many disciplines to provide diagnostic and corrective assistance, upgrade consultation, and engineering services as products move through their lifecycle. On-Demand Engineering
The flexibility of IPS’ automation system can lead to a desire for additional incremental capabilities. Our Field Engineers can assist you in defining, documenting, implementing, testing and commissioning product, system and application improvements. IPS Field Engineers can assist you at your site in performing the following types of services:
Field Engineers have designed and implemented projects and upgrades in many functional areas, including Advanced Process Control, Batch, PLC & PLC Integration, Business Systems Integration, Integrated control, Network Security, SCADA, HVAC and Energy Management.
Resident Engineering
A highly experienced Field Engineer in the role of Site Resident will manage and perform overall site activities associated with Invensys Process Systems applications and systems use, maintenance and lifecycle support as outlined in the client’s specific Service Agreement.
The Site Engineer is highly experienced in handling the many phases of system support as systems and applications moves through their lifecycle. These expert field engineers provide an extensive array of services.
Actual expectations and responsibilities placed on the Resident Engineer may vary depending on requirements. This resource may be responsible for the following activities:
- Contribute technical expertise on corrective and preventive maintenance tasks; maintain spare parts
- Provide upgrade consultation, planning, and implementation support
- Support activities including assembly, installation, testing and documentation of hardware and applications
- Define the requirements for application changes or additions. Implement, test, and commission additions or changes. Provide associated formal documentation.
- Serve as liaison between customer and Invensys Process Systems on any problems that may arise
- Ensure compliance with corporate contractual responsibilities
Automation System Maintenance
The most appropriate route to an effective solution for an identified automation system issue may require Field Services or Field Engineering involvement at the site. Your local IPS service engineer provides hands-on factory-trained expertise and personal familiarity with your site, your product installation and your production process.
Regularly scheduled maintenance performed by an expert field engineer will keep your automation system’ process on track. IPS employs expert field resources around the world and will quickly assign people with the knowledge and skills needed for on-demand situations.

Preventive Maintenance - The periodic scheduling of on-site preventive maintenance under the terms of your Service Agreement allows you to plan for necessary activities at your convenience and to help control your maintenance expenses.

Corrective Assistance - Invensys Process Systems will dispatch a locally-based service representative for expert correction support. All Service Agreement customers’ cases receive priority response and committed arrival time.
